The Originals - Web Series Confirmed With Dates

Double the Kol, double the fun.
Don't say The Originals' creative team doesn't listen to their fans because they're about give many of them exactly what they've been asking for: More Kol Mikaelson! E! News can exclusively reveal that the CW hit is launching a four-part digital series, The Originals: Awakening, sponsored by Target and centering on the youngest Original brother, with Nathaniel Buzolic reprising the fan favorite role. (Daniel Sharman currently plays the character on the series. It's a whole body-jumping witch thing.) We've also got your first look at Buzolic, who appeared via flashback in a recent episode, back in action.
Of returning to the role that scored him legions of loyal fans, Nathaniel Buzolic exclusively tells us he's "excited for fans to see a little more of Kol, the most misunderstood member of the Mikaelson family." Spoken like a true misunderstood Mikaelson family member!
Awakening will premiere on Monday, Nov. 10 on cwtv.com during the east coast airing of The Originals, with new episodes rolling out each Monday. With the series paralleling The Originals' storylines, fans can expect Awakening to directly tie into the midseason finale, airing on Dec. 8.
So what's the digital series about exactly?

We're flashing back to 1914, with Kol on a quest to form an alliance with the witches of the French Quarter. And Awakening will  gives fans answers to some major burning questions about Kol's past, including how and why he found  himself up against his siblings, why he was daggered and the unique backstory he has with the NoLa witches.

Carina MacKenzie, a writer on The Originals, penned the Kol-centric series, telling us she was excited to delve into Kol's mischievous nature and previously untapped backstory.
"When we found out we were going to get to do a web series, I immediately thought of Kol—because his mischief has always been part of the fabric of the city. We know fromThe Vampire Diaries that Kol has a history with the witches of New Orleans, and we've kept that in mind since the very beginning of The Originals," she said. "In the web series fans will get to see how some events of last season can actually be traced back to Kol, and we'll reveal some clues as to his current agenda with Davina. Thanks to some body-swapping hijinks, we've got Daniel Sharman playing the character on the show now, but we're always super excited when we can bring Nathaniel Buzolic in for flashbacks. I had a great time working with him— he's hilarious, and just steps right back into Kol so brilliantly. And he's a really, really good sport about getting positively drenched in fake blood."

The Originals - Season 2 Casting Info

Our favorite fall shows may currently be on summer hiatus, but 'The Originals' is wasting no time in dishing out some bloody good details about its upcoming second season.
For starters...Kol will be coming back!
Though he's been facing some pretty serious afterlife woes in 'The Vampire Diaries,' Klaus and Elijah’s baby bro — played by the always dreamy Nathaniel Buzolic — is set to resurface sometime this fall in a flashback scenario, which will give fans an even better look into the twisted lives of the Mikaelson family.
This will be the actor's second time on the show, having also appeared in the pilot last fall.
There has been released a list of the main cast confirmed for season 2.  Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Leah Pipes and Danielle Campbell will reprise their roles this upcoming season. There has also been a list of the supporting cast that will also be part of the show released. Nathaniel is part of it along with Sebastian Roché who will reprise his role as the villainous Mikael.
One of the biggest questions is answered in the supporting cast. Finn will be with his mother. He will also be known as Vincent. Kol will be in season 2 also. In season 4 of 'The Vampire Diaries', Kol admitted to loving the French Quarter witches and said they could make a real drink. It was there Kol found out about Silas. He told Elena that he always hung out with the French Quarter witches.
Some other names from the supporting cast list are: Natalie Dreyfuss (Cassie/Esther), Yusuf Gatewood (Vincent/Finn Mikaelson), Steven Krueger (Josh), Peta Sergeant as (Francesca Correa), Nathan Parsons (Jackson), Chase Coleman (Oliver), Jesse C. Boyd (Cary) and Daniel Sharman (Kaleb).

Spoiler From Zap2It - 4th February 2013

This week, we said goodbye to Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) -- and despite a definite theme of resurrection this season, we're hearing that that's the very last we'll see of him in the present day. More bad news? Kol isn't the only character we're going to say goodbye to before the next hiatus. Okay, okay, so we have some good news for fans, too: Stefan's BFF Lexi will appear in another flashback episode this season. And more Lexi is always a good thing.

Interview With Nathaniel Buzolic

Who/what has had a major influence on you growing up to where you are now?
“For me personally, growing up in a single parent household was one of the strongest influences growing up.  I love my mum, but also learnt that it was gonna take a lot of hard work to get to where I wanted to be with my career. Created really good habits and less expectation that I would get what I want unless I worked hard for it.”

You’re an avid snowboarder and a keen photographer.  If it were a toss up of a fun snowboarding holiday or an African wildlife safari ripe with photo opportunities, which would it be?
“That is a tough question.  I love to board. When I’m heading down a mountain, I can forget about the world for a short while. But I do love to capture beauty in this world. And photos can last the test of time. So I would have to do with the safari just in the hope that I would get the perfect shot.”

Were there any special preparations you had to do in order to prepare for your role as Kol in The Vampire Diaries?
“Essentially, I had to discover my naughty side. Haha! ‘Cause Kol does not worry about accountability for his actions. But also, I had to work on an English accent. It’s an accent that isn’t the most comfortable for me to fall in, so before shooting I really try to work on that.”

It’s been said that you love pirates.  Did you ever have a pirate themed birthday party as a child?
“I think my fascination came much later in life with pirates. I’d have a themed party this year if I could … PIRATES IT IS!”

Tell us about the tattoo on your wrist.
“My tattoo says Take Heart, it’s actually taken from the bible, john 16:33 it was one of the last things Jesus shared with his disciples before dying on the cross. Essentially the message is this: In life you’re gonna face troubles, but TAKE HEART because I have overcome the world. I hold on these words pretty tightly.”

What can we expect from Kol in further episodes of The Vampire Diaries?
“Kol will be making his return to Mystic falls this week! And he may not be a happy camper this time.”

Besides the vampire aspect of The Vampire Diaries, how does your portrayal/experience of Kol differ to other parts you’ve played?
“This role is the biggest jump from reality I’ve taken.  I’ve played a lot of different characters, but generally, they have still been kept in reality. I like playing characters that are a stretch and a suspension of belief has to be taken.”

You’ve mentioned that you have a love for storytelling, a factor that’s lead you to acting.  Have you ever considered a career as a writer?
“If I could improve my grammar and spelling!  Ha-ha.  I have dyslexia, so unfortunately, I might be able to write something good, but it would be in complete CODE.”

What has been the highlight for you as Kol during Season 3?
“Definitely being able to work with the likes of Claire, Joseph, and Daniel Gillies. I love my original family!”

Are you working with/involved with any worthwhile causes or projects at the moment?  (If yes, please share a few details.)
“Absolutely, extremely passionate about putting an end to modern day slavery. Today there are more slaves in history then ever before, and sadly, woman and children account for the bulk of the 27 million people who are enslaved. I would urge everyone who considers them self free to visit enditmovement.com and show your support by donating or signing the petition. The world needs to stand up to the people who subject others to this injustice.”

What is the best thing about being part of The Vampire Diaries?
“Well besides the great cast, crew, and scripts that we as actors get to play with! I actually have fallen in love with the city of Atlanta. So for me it’s always nice to get out of LA and be in what I call my spiritual home!”

Career wise, what do you hope to achieve beyond your role as Kol?
“I’m expecting big things this year.  In a perfect world, I will fall into the world of film over here. But I would love to continue to develop the role of Kol for TVD audiences and hopefully get on a couple of other shows before the year is out. Who knows?  It’s in God’s hands and I trust him completely.”

Nathaniel Buzolic Answers Fans Questions

Nathaniel Buzolic aka Kol, the new badass original brother on The Vampire Diaries, very kindly took some time out of his day to answer some questions asked by fans.
He recently informed his fans that he would be making a video and would like them to submit questions to him via Facebook and Twitter. He answered questions varying from his origins, to working on the show, to his spiritual beliefs.
Kol may be a little crazy and unpredictable on the show but Nate himself is as cool and down to earth as they come. Here is what he had to say...

The Real Nathaniel - The Man Behind the Fangs

Interview by Gabrielle Pickle

Introduced to the United States as Kol, the playful yet dangerous youngest brother of The Vampire Diaries original family, Nathaniel Buzolic is actually quite different from his fanged character. Oh, he is just as tall, dark and handsome in person, but unlike his alter ego, he is completely genuine, a true gentleman and one of the sweetest guys I’ve ev
er interviewed.

Sprawled out on the couch of his TVD dressing room, he fiddled with his new Canon camera while answering my questions in that ever so charming Australian accent. A native of Sydney, Nathaniel grew up in a low- income household with a dedicated single mom. “Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my beautiful mum driving me to practice and rehearsals 6 days a week so I could chase my dreams.”

Surprisingly, acting wasn’t his original dream. Young Nathaniel lived and breathed basketball until an injury side-lined him in year 9, but it was during his extended recovery that he discovered the magic of acting. “I remember the first time I got up on stage and was able to make people laugh,” and his face lit up at the memory as he described his transformation from a shy unpopular kid to an actor with a story to tell. “From that day on, I was hooked.”

At the prompting of his High School drama teacher, Nathaniel auditioned for the Australian Theatre and won a scholarship that launched his professional acting career. From there, life was a series of performances, auditions and rehearsals. As a High School Senior, he announced to his friends that he would one day make it to
Hollywood. They laughed at his big dreams, but 10 years later he is filming with The Vampire Diaries.

His humble upbringing clearly taught him to value people over possessions, something that is obvious on set as he pauses to chat with the Make-Up Artists or make a stressed Production Assistant laugh. “The best part of playing Kol is the great people I get to work with every day,” he told me before running off to converse with the show’s writer. And the cast and crew clearly love him as much as he loves them. “He’s my mate!” announced Joseph Morgan, the actor who plays the infamous Klaus, looping his arm around Nathanial’s shoulders with a cheeky grin. Off screen, Nathaniel and Joseph are the Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn of The Vampire Diaries cast, constantly joking around, or ‘mucking about’ as they call it, and coming up with grand schemes for new
TV shows. Yet on set, they transform into talented, professional actors plying their magnetic smirks on viewers everywhere.

Naming Leonardo Dicaprio, Johnny Depp and Health Ledger as his inspiration, Nathaniel admitted he is constantly in awe of their acting abilities. “I love watching them transform into a character in a way that creates a powerful, relatable story! For me acting is about conveying a story--creating something that affects people.” Storytelling is also the motivation behind his newfound love of photography, which captures a story in still frame, inspiring different reactions in each viewer.

Unable to resist any longer, I asked about the famous people he’s met. And right before my eyes, the laid back actor transformed into a giddy fan, “Well, there was the one time that I was passed over for a role and was really down about it. I went out to collect my thoughts and re-evaluate my goals. Then Johnny Depp walked in, and we had this super encouraging chat about acting, and it re-inspired me to push on!”
He hardly paused to breathe before exclaiming, “But the most amazing person I’ve ever met is the preacher Louie Giglio! He has been the catalyst for re-connecting me with my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I first heard him preach when my friend put his DVD, Indescribable, on in the car as we drove home from a snow trip. I recently attended Louie’s church in Georgia and was able to meet him in person! It was amazing – I’m such a fan! Pretty sure I talked his ear off!” He grinned unapologetically.

“Any deep secrets you care to share with your fans?” I asked on a whim as we wrapped up the interview. He blushed and ducked his head, “I secretly wouldn’t mind being a pirate... like Jack Sparrow!” All joking aside, though, Nathaniel openly shared his personal views on life and faith, hoping to encourage his fans with these final words. “Life is a gift, a gift that ultimately must be returned to our sender. I live by faith and believe in seeking the good so that my soul may shine and ripple through this world every day. If today is my last, I’ll act accordingly. Life’s a gift, so live in the present and always take heart!”

Nathaniel Buzolic Told To Bronze Up

HE'S never thought of himself as pasty, so it came as a surprise to Sydney actor Nathaniel Buzolic when he was told to "bronze up" to play a vampire on hit American series, The Vampire Diaries.

He's landed a dream role after only a few years working the Hollywood audition circuit.

"They actually coloured me up a bit," Buzolic says. "I was too fair. The vampires are quite well tanned over there."

Buzolic, joined the cast as an original vampire called Kol, filming the show in Atlanta at the end of last year.
"People say I look like a vampire," he says.
"I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or not."

Coming up on The Vampire Diaries...

Any Possible upcoming Stefan/Caroline?
Candice Accola is a "big fan" of scenes between the two, but says "as of right now there hasn't been a lot of interaction" between Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline. Boo! Hiss! As for a romance between the two, Accola says it seems unlikely. "I think that would be extremely complicated, I can't really picture that in reality as being something that would happen anytime soon, if ever."

Originals?

As most TVD fans know, we'll be introduced to two new brothers soon and here's what Joseph Morgan  had to say "I have a very different relationship with Kol than I do with Finn. When you get the whole family together, it's really charged." The whole family? Things that make you go hmmm… When we poised the idea of an Originals spinoff to our favorite hybrid, he tells us he's pulling for it "unashamedly."

When is Stefan going to find out about that kiss between Elena and Damon?

Very soon. As in, this  week soon!

Klaus and Caroline?

Nothing between them in the next episode. Klaus will have his hands full trying to get the coffins back. But there is a great storyline involving Tyler. Also, Bonnie's Mom and Caroline's dad both show up in the next episode. One to help their child, one not.
