Charlie Bewley Interview

Congrats on your TVD role! Vaughn is described as “ruggedly handsome, charming, built, and tough as hell.” Those are quite formidable traits! What was the audition process like based on all of this?
I hadn’t worked much on the audition. I went in there and just let them have it. Maybe my confidence in the room was due to Vaughn and I being similar people.

Were you a fan of The Vampire Diaries beforehand?
I had never watched the show until I was cast – then I caught up and realized what I had gotten myself into.

Can you tell us a little bit about Vaughn and what brings him to Mystic Falls?
I cannot — you’ll have to watch. [Hint hint.]

In a battle of wits and charm though, who would win: Klaus or Vaughn and why?
Klaus is great! I enjoy Joseph’s portrayal of him and he fully deserves the spin-off. As for a Battle of Britain, I dunno… Let’s wait and see if we clash antlers in the future. It certainly would be great to stand toe-to-toe with JM.

Vaughn has a strong opinion when it comes to Delena on the show. But what’s your outlook on their relationship from what you’ve seen so far? What piece of love advice would you offer them?
My outlook on relationships is not one you want to hear, but in the context of TVD I’ll say this: I cannot believe these two brothers toss around a girl they supposedly love, neither can I believe that Elena willfully hops into bed with one after the next, and back. Sire bond is no excuse.

What was it like filming scenes with Ian Somerhalder, Joseph Morgan, and the cast? Were there any entertaining behind-the-scenes moments on set?
Ian is the glue that binds us all. He runs the show. It’s quite the spectacle. I love the guy — he has lots of great energy and is a real people person. TV is a new medium for me… these guys have been going at it for years. I feel privileged to have come in and injected my own brand of energy to Mystic Falls.

You portrayed a vampire in the Twilight saga. And now you’re a slayer. Moment of truth: Which do you have more fun playing and why?
I am all about supernaturalism. My focus on a daily basis is to push evolution to its limits and there is nothing I believe is not possible. So naturally, to play a vampire with the abilities of Demetri was very special. Vaughn is like Bear Grylls on a vengeance mission – and everyone loves Bear. But Bear can’t fly. And Demetri can.

Spoiler From E! Online - 20th December 2012

Got any more scoop on Twilight star Charlie Bewley's role on The Vampire Diaries? I'm so excited to see him on the show!

Bewley will debut as Vaughn in the CW series' 13th episode and let's just say he's got his sights set on the Salvatore brothers. You see, he's a hunter, one of The Five, to be exact, and like Connor, he's pretty damn good at his job. Expect an interesting first meeting between Vaughn and Damon that will only show off just how much Damon cares for Elena.

Charlie Bewley Cast As Vaughn

Actor Charlie Bewley, who is best known for his portrayal of evil vamp Demetri in the popular Twilight series, has landed a juicy gig on The Vampire Diaries, E! News confirms. We're guessing someone is a big fan of the vampire genre!
So will the British actor be donning fangs once again when he visits Mystic Falls?

Bewley will make his debut as Vaughn on the CW hit in the 13th episode of the season and will stick around for several episodes.
While details about Vaughn are being kept pretty under wraps, we can tell you that he's described as ruggedly handsome, charming, built and tough as hell. (Interesting side-note? An actor with an accent was preferred during the audition process for the role.)

Spoiler From Zap2it - 12th November 2012

You may have heard that the show is about to introduce Vaughn, a "ruggedly handsome, charming, built, and tough as hell" guy in his late 20s with a super-sexy accent. He's one of The Five hunters, and he's very comfortable with his place at the top of the supernatural food chain. He knows a lot about Damon and uses it to get the upper hand. What he doesn't quite understand, though, is how strongly Damon feels about Elena. In the same episode (413), we'll meet Caitlin, another recurring character. She's a woman with a profound and surprising impact on Professor Shane, and she'll help shed some light on his motivations.
