Michael Trevino Interview

What’s up with Tyler next season?

Well, we left off where Tyler becomes possessed by Klaus’ being, so we kind of see how that comes into play. One would think because we have this love triangle between Klaus and Tyler and Caroline, that Klaus would take full advantage of being inside Tyler’s body in relation to Caroline. So, we’ll see how far that goes. I would like to be able to play Klaus for a while, but I think we’re going to bring back Joseph Morgan a lot sooner than you think.
What do you hope for your character?

I’m hoping that it’s a great season and that Tyler can stay alive, because with any supernatural show, people are dying left and right. But I think what you can see is me kind of figuring out a different layer to Tyler. He’s graduating high school. These kids are teenagers and they’re starting to become adults. All of these characters are breaking away from the supernatural side and showing more of their human sides, so I’m looking forward to that.
Is there any rivalry between you and Steven R. McQueen  in real life? Your characters had some rivalry on the show.

No way—Steven’s like my little brother. We call him “Little Brother” or “Little McQueen,” even though he towers over me in height. [Laughs] We have all been on the show since day one when we shot the pilot in Vancouver. There’s no real rivalry; we go at each other like brothers.
Okay, important question: Werewolves or vampires?

Werewolves!
Why?

Because for me, I feel like there’s just this inner rage within a werewolf that’s more appealing to me instead of this kind of flamboyant vampire attitude.
What you’re saying is that werewolves are more badass.

I am. That appeals to me more than…pretty vampires.
A certain pretty vampire that might have a franchise, perhaps?

[Laughs] Well, I’m not calling any specific vampires out, but I can say that at least on our show, in our realm of the supernatural, our vampires don’t sparkle.

Vampire Diaries 4x02 Official Synopsis

Ep 2 Memorial

A NEW DANGER COMES TO TOWN — Elena (Nina Dobrev) tries to cope with the extreme highs and lows that are part of becoming a vampire, and Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) almost come to blows while arguing about what is best for her. Damon decides to help Elena in his own way and asks her not to tell Stefan. A stranger, Connor Jordan (guest star Todd Williams, “Chicago Code”), arrives in town and begins questioning Sheriff Forbes and Mayor Lockwood. Connor’s actions quickly convince Stefan that they are dealing with a dangerous vampire hunter. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig) are surprised to see a girl they used to know, April, (guest star Grace Phipps, “The Nine Lives of Chloe King”), has returned to town and is enrolling at Mystic Falls High. At a town gathering, Elena comes close to losing control until Caroline steps in to help her. Finally, Damon confides his feelings to an unexpected friend. Kat Graham and Michael Trevino also star. Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Jose Molina & Julie Plec (#402).

Spoiler From EOnline - 27th September 2012

Kat Graham talked to us about Jeremy's situation in TVD's fourth season, and it sounds like he's got a big journey ahead. "Jeremy is going to be becoming something new that I think the fans will really like," she tells us mysteriously. Is there a chance he could become Bonnie's boo again? "You get to see them have some scenes together in the first episode, which is really cool, and we've had a lot of scenes since," she reveals. "But I think it's yet to be determined. I think it was such a heartbreak for the character when she discovered that he was having an affair with a ghost. She's got a lot of mending and healing to do. So she might give him another chance, or she might think that friendship is really where they should remain."

I love Matt on The Vampire Diaries. Will he have any good story lines this season?

Although Matt was essentially the reason that Elena died, he'll also play an integral role in her transition. Let's just say his guilt will lead him to do just about anything for her — especially when she needs to feed.

Interview with Nina Dobrev

Given Elena's new status, does the fourth season of Vampire Diaries feel refreshed as well?
It does feel a little different. This season is more character driven. We're going deep into everyone's storylines – there will still be a lot of action, but I feel like last season was too action driven and so shock driven that you started to not care about the characters. Or if you did, there wasn't enough time to feel what they were feeling because something else would happen and your attention would be pulled somewhere else. This season, we're focusing back in on the characters and grounding it back into reality. Without holding on to your humanity, why would anyone care about these characters?

You've been vocal about wanting to explore Elena outside of her relationships with Stefan and Damon. Does this new storyline allow for that?
Not really. Not yet, at least. She is leaning on both of the boys, and all her friends, in a big way for support. Everyone helps her in different areas, but she's not very independent in the first part of the season. I think that'll come, but we're not there yet.

You obviously have experience in playing a vampire, but is it odd to be exploring the transition aspect of that journey now?
It is definitely a challenge to act like it's the first time for everything. Elena is experiencing all these things for the first time, whereas I've played Katherine a lot, so that's been interesting.

Were you excited by the idea of Elena turning, or did you need convincing?
I'm definitely mourning Elena's humanity a bit because, selfishly, I liked the variety of playing these completely different characters. Obviously they're still different because Elena is still Elena in almost every single way, but there are definite changes. She's going in a different direction with the way she acts and what she does -- I think people will be surprised by the shift.

I'd also imagine the role Stefan played in her transition alters their relationship as well?
There is a definite shift that makes it, in a lot of ways, very much like the triangle we saw in season one. But it's very different because, yes, the boys are still arguing and having differing opinions over how she should lead her newly vamped life. But while their arguments remain the same, her perspective is very different now that she’s a vampire.

What are you excited for fans to see this season?
I'm excited for fans to eventually see how Elena does start changing. She's been needing to loosen up and she's going to, which will be fun for the fans to see – and fun for me to shoot!

Spoiler From EOnline - 21st September 2012

What's coming up for my girl Bonnie on The Vampire Diaries this season?!

"Bonnie's going to meet someone who's going to have a huge impact on her future. That's really exciting," Kat Graham teases. So, who's the new someone? Shane, a professor at the local college, played by David Alpay, who believes in the occult and shares a history with our resident witch. "He's going to take her down a different kind of road. We'll see how that plays itself out."

Spoiler From Zap2It - 24th September 2012

Episode 7 of this season will bring us back to the annual Miss Mystic Falls pageant! That means vamps in suits, y'all. As the reigning winner, Caroline has some duties to perform, but she's distracted -- not only by Klaus, who hasn't given up on pursuing her yet, but also by a rare clash with Elena. Oh... and there's a moment that mirrors a top fan-favorite scene from Season 1. Specifically, one that's had over 2 million views on YouTube.
